Monday

Leicester City welcomed Liverpool to a vociferous King Power Stadium in the Premier League. £15m January signing Harry Souttar had to be content with a very late substitute appearance. The Foxes lost 3-0, with their relegation worries deepening.

Tom Grivosti went into St Patrick’s starting XI following his return from injury. Despite taking the lead, Athletic lost 3-2 at Shamrock Rovers.

Thursday

Ishé Samuels-Smith lined up for England as they kicked off their Under 17 European Championship campaign in Hungary. ‘The Young Lions’ got off to a perfect start, thanks to a 1-0 victory against Croatia in Group D.

Friday

The race to reach the EFL Championship took another huge step for Barnsley. Defender Liam Kitching scored the vital goal which propels them to Wembley for the League One Play-Off Final. They will face Sheffield Wednesday in the final at Wembley Stadium after a close 1-0 (2-1 on aggregate) victory over Bolton Wanderers. A huge well done to Gethin Jones and Aaron Morley following a terrific season for ‘The Trotters’.

Tom Grivosti’s return from injury has paid huge dividends for St Patrick’s Athletic. They returned from Shelbourne with a 1-0 victory.

Saturday

Luke Bolton’s Salford City suffered penalty shootout heartbreak in the League Two Play-Off Semi-Final. A close second leg against Stockport finished 2-1 (2-2) after extra-time with County winning 3-1 on penalties.

A Barrie McKay inspired Heart of Midlothian came from behind to beat fellow European competition hopefuls Aberdeen 2-1 at Tynecastle Park.

Bethany England struck a brace and Kit Graham grabbed a goal for Tottenham as they beat Reading 4-1 in the FA Women’s Super League.

Sunday

Halifax made the trip south to face Gateshead in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium. Congratulations to Tylor Golden and Jamie Stott who collected winners medal’s following the 1-0 win.

The Manchester derby was the pick of the weekend’s WSL fixtures. Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 at Leigh Sports Village, with Ella Toone again instrumental for the hosts.

Also in the Women’s FA Super League; Taylor Hinds supplied two assists as Liverpool drew 3-3 at Aston Villa, while Hannah Cain grabbed a consolation goal in Leicester City’s 2-1 defeat against West Ham.

England Under 17’s took on Netherlands in their second European Championship match in Hungary. Ishé Samuels-Smith completed 90 minutes in the comprehensive 4-1 victory. ‘The Young Lions’ top Group D going into the final fixture. #FullNinetyFamily
