Liam Kitching continues to bide his time regarding a starting opportunity at new club Coventry City. ‘The Sky Blues’ drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town in the EFL Championship. 

Tuesday

England suffered Nations League defeat in Group A1. Ella Toone completed 90 minutes of action in the 2-1 defeat in the Netherlands. 

Dion Pereira made his first starting appearance for SuttonUnited since his loan move from Luton Town. They lost narrowly 2-1 in the Carabao Cup Third Round at Port Vale.

Gethin Jones captained Bolton Wanderers to a memorable 8-1 victory against Manchester United U21’s in the Papa John’s Trophy. Gethin grabbed a goal and supplied an assist, while Aaron Morley also featured in the win.

Free scoring Gateshead won 3-0 at Oxford City in the National League. Ed Francis’ side move up to fourth place in the table. 

Wednesday 

Australian International Harry Souttar came back into the Leicester City starting line-up for their Carabao Cup third round clash against Liverpool. Despite a spirited display at Anfield they exit the competition following a 3-1 defeat. 

Hibernian marched into the Viaplay Scottish League Cupsemi-finals, where they will face Aberdeen. Flying winger Martin Boyle scored a late brace to secure win the tie, with his side beating St Mirren 4-2.

Saturday

Coventry City recorded a terrific 3-1 away win at Queens Park Rangers. Liam Kitching was an unused substitute in the EFL Championship fixture.

Martin Boyle’s Hibernian were held to a goalless draw at Easter Road after their SPL match with Dundee. 

An Aaron Morley assist proved to be decisive for Bolton Wanderers in League One. They won 1-0 at Port Vale. 

Ronan Darcy enjoyed a hugely productive day for Crawley. He notched two assists as Town beat Dion Pereira’s Sutton United 3-0. 

Fleetwood Town edged out visitors Leyton Orient 1-0 with Josh Earl completing the 90 minutes. 

Salford City won 2-1 at home against Newport County. Former Manchester City academy graduate Luke Bolton featured at the Peninsula Stadium. 

Elliot Lee’s Wrexham grabbed a dramatic late equaliser to draw 3-3 with Crewe Alexandra at the Racecourse Ground. 

Sunday

Harry Souttar returned to the Leicester City squad for their Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers. The Foxes were comfortable 4-1 winners at Ewood Park.

The FA Women’s Super League kicked off the new season with Manchester United returning from Aston Villa with all 3 points. Lioness Ella Toone was instrumental in the 2-1 victory.

Taylor Hinds captained Liverpool to a brilliant 1-0 opening day win at Arsenal. A record attendance of 54,155 watched on at the Emirate’s Stadium. 

Hannah Cain’s Leicester City scored four second half goals to beat Bristol City 4-2. #FullNinetyFamily
