New Year’s Day

Rotherham grabbed a second half equaliser following Jamie Lindsay’s introduction from the bench. United drew 2-2 at Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship.

It took less than a minute for Tom Barkhuizen to supply an assist for Derby County, although his side conceded two late goals and lost 3-2 against Peterborough.

Aaron Morley orchestrated the Bolton Wanderers’ midfield to victory at the Toughsheet Stadium. The Trotters chalked up a 1-0 win over Burton Albion as they continue to push for promotion from League One.

Jonny Smith’s spectacular strike earned Wigan Athletic a 1-1 draw at Barnsley. Callum Lang also featured at Oakwell.

Wrexham shook off the early setback of conceding in the opening minute of their match. Elliot Lee’s men went on to steamroll visitors Barrow 4-1 League Two.

Ronan Darcy claimed an early assist for Crawley Town, who recorded a comfortable 3-1 home victory against Swindon Town.

Luton Town loan man Dion Pereira completed 90 minutes for Sutton United in League Two. They drew 1-1 against Newport County in South London.

Friday

Rotherham made the trip south to face Premier League side Fulham in the FA Cup 3rd Round at Craven Cottage. Jamie Lindsay’s men exit the competition but made their hosts work hard for a 1-0 win.

Saturday 

Gethin Jones made his full debut for Australia as they warm up for the Asia Cup in Qatar. The Socceroos beat Bahrain 2-0with Harry Souttar  also completing 90 minutes, while Martin Boyle was an unused substitute.

Tom Barkhuizen made a 30 minute substitute appearance and came away with the winning goal. His Derby County side saw off Josh Earl’s Fleetwood Town 3-1 at Highbury to maintain their League One promotion push.

Two goals in stoppage time gave Ronan Darcy’s Crawley a 4-2 win at Bradford City. Town are only goal difference away from a League Two play-off spot.

Salford City earned a 2-2 draw against Forest Green Rovers in League Two. Former Manchester City academy graduate Luke Bolton completed an impressive 90 minutes of action following his return from injury.

Sunday

Bolton faced Premier League side Luton Town in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Aaron Morley made a second half substitute appearance as Wanderers secured a credible goalless draw at Kenilworth Road. 

A solitary strike at The New Meadow proved to be enough for Elliot Lee’s Wrexham to progress into the FA Cup 4th Round. His side beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0. #FullNinetyFamily
