Stoke City maintained their impressive start to the EFL Championship season with a comprehensive 3-1 win at Swansea City. Defensive lynchpin Harry Souttar’s headed effort hit the post before the rebound was turned home for the winning goal.

Callum Lang’s sweet strike looked to have given his Wigan Athletic side victory in League One. They were denied victory by a late Wycombe Wanderers equaliser.

Jamie Lindsay orchestrated the Rotherham United midfield during their 1-0 away win against in-form Morecambe. Likewise; Bolton Wanderers secured the points with a 1-0 at Lincoln City with Gethin Jones featuring.

Burton Albion’s new striker Aaron Holloway made his debut as a late substitute with his side beating Northeast giants Sunderland 1-0.

A last ditch equalising goal rescued a point for Gillingham at AFC Wimbledon. Olly Lee completed 90 minutes at Plough Lane.

Manchester City graduate Ben Hughes opened his goalscoring account for Marine. The Crosby outfit ran out 3-0 winners against Ramsbottom in the Northern Premier League (West Division).

Friday

Manchester City hosted Blackburn Rovers in the PL2. It saw both Luke Bolton and Daniel Pike start at Right back for their respective sides. The game was fiercely contested and produced 6 goals; one being a 35 yard thunderbolt from 19 year old Pike.

Saturday

Stoke City edged out Nottingham Forest 1-0 and move into the Championship top three. Socceroo defender Harry Souttar kept another clean sheet to enhance his growing reputation.

Liam Kitching’s through-ball provided the assist for Barnsley’s opening goal at Loftus Road. His side had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their EFL Championship game with Queens Park Rangers.

In League One; there was a terrific 2-1 win for Gethin Jones’ Bolton Wanderers and two late goals at The Valley enabled Callum Lang’s Wigan Athletic to return from Charlton with 3 points. Olly Lee made an appearance for Gillingham as they beat Morecambe 2-1.

Midfield playmaker Aaron Morley was the key man for Rochdale as they secured a 3-1 win at Northampton Town.

Ed Francis made a dream start to life at Notts County. Completing 90 minutes, his side thumped Barnet 5-0 away from home in the National League.

The New Saints beat Caernarfon 5-3 after a glut of goals at Park Hall. Declan McManus was on target yet again in their Welsh Premier League match.

Ben Hughes’ Marine will replay their FA Cup qualifying tie with Workington after both sides played out a 1-1 draw.
