Tuesday

Jamie Lindsay continued his comeback from injury in fine style. Entering the fray as a 59th minute substitute, he claimed a 90th minute assist with a smart reverse pass as Rotherham United beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 in the EFL Championship. 

Free-scoring Oxford United secured another convincing win with Elliot Lee bagging a first half goal after his quality turn and finish. His side beat Shrewsbury 4-1 in League One. 

Also in the third tier; Callum Lang struck a 58th minute winner for Wigan Athletic in their crucial 2-1 home victory against Sunderland. Midfielder Aaron Morley played a key role for Rochdale as they beat Swindon Town 2-1.

The winning habit continued for Gethin Jones’ Bolton Wanderers as they won 1-0 at Salford. ‘The Trotters’ cemented their place in the League Two automatic promotion places. 

Declan McManus completed 90 minutes for Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship but they could only draw 0-0 with fellow promotion hopefuls Dundee.

Bethany England and Ella Toone were rewarded for their recent good form when they collected England International caps. Disappointingly they lost 2-0 in a friendly game against Canada.

Chelsea beat London City Lionesses 5-0 to progress into the Women’s FA Cup 4th Round. Beth England supplied a second half assist for the Londoners who are in the hunt for a domestic clean sweep and UEFA Champions League glory. 

Saturday

Aaron Morley orchestrated the play in central midfield for his Rochdale side in League One. They beat Accrington Stanley 3-1 at Spotland.

Wigan Athletic made it three wins in succession with a 2-0 home victory over Crewe Alexandra. Callum Lang earned his side a penalty-kick for the key second goal following a cynical foul.

Jack Chambers scored twice for a Luton Town Under 21 side that beat Stevenage Borough 3-2 in a friendly fixture. 

North of the border; Declan McManus’ Dunfermline edge nearer to promotion after their 3-1 win against Queen of the South keeps them in the play-off places. 

The evening fixture saw Elliot Lee’s Oxford United host his brother Olly Lee’s Gillingham for their League One fixture.’The Gills’ took a two goal lead before ‘The U’s’ staged a remarkable comeback. Elliot provided an assist for Oxford’s first goal as they went on to clinch a 3-2 victory with an added time winner.

Sunday

Martin Boyle produced a ‘Man of the Match’ performance for Hibernian. He bagged two goals as his side dispatched Stranraer 4-0 in the Scottish FA Cup. They now face fellow SPL side Motherwell in the Quarter-Finals.

It was Women’s FA Cup 4th Round day as Lioness Ella Toone scored for Manchester United during their 6-0 demolition of Burnley. Hannah Cain netted the winning goal for Leicester City, while Kirstie Levell kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win against Taylor Hinds’ Liverpool. There was an extra winner for Tottenham Hotspur as they progress with a 3-2 win at Reading, where Abbie McManus and Kit Graham featured for Spurs. #FullNinetyFamily
