Friday

The Easter programme kicked off with Stoke City beatingBristol City in the EFL Championship. Australian International Harry Souttar set the defensive platform for ‘The Potters’ as they came away from Ashton Gate with a 2-0 victory. 

Gethin Jones’ Bolton Wanderers climbed into the League Two automatic promotion places following their goalless draw against Colchester United. 

18 year old Freddie Price made an immediate impact following his introduction as an 87th minute substitute for Morecambe. He struck his first football league goal within 60 seconds of coming on to set up a tense finale in his side’s narrow 2-1 defeat at Cambridge United. 

Saturday

Dundee United edged out Partick Thistle 2-1 in their Scottish Cup tie at Tannadice. Luke Bolton completed the 90 minutes as ‘The Tangerines’ came from behind to reach the 4th round. 

Dunfermline’s solid display earned them a point against Championship leaders Hearts. Striker Declan McManus featured for ‘The Parrs’ during the goalless draw at East End Park. 

Sunday

Olivia Chance scored a stunning 25 yard strike which found the top corner during her W-League Semi-Final match for Brisbane Roar against Melbourne Victory. Liv also provided an assist, but couldn’t prevent a 6-2 defeat. 

Chelsea beat Birmingham City 6-0 in the WSL with Lioness striker Bethany England making her comeback after recently suffering concussion. She supplied two assists while Everton loanee Georgia Brougham featured for City. Elsewhere; Chloe Arthur headed a late consolation goal for Aston Villa as they lost 3-1 at home to Everton.

In the Women’s Championship; Congratulations to Kirsty Levell and Hannah Cain as Leicester City were crowned 20/21 Champions following their 2-0 win over London City Lionesses. City will be promoted to the WSL next season. Also in action was Taylor Hinds who’s Liverpool side beat Lewes 2-0 to maintain their 3rd place position in the league table. 

North of the border; Lizzie Arnot bagged a brace for Rangers during their comfortable 6-0 win against Hearts in Edinburgh. The Glasgow giants sit proudly at the summit of the SWPL. 

Monday

A Martin Boyle inspired Hibernian progressed into the Scottish Cup 4th Round after dispatching Queen of the South. The Socceroo scored with a clinical finish in their 3-1 win. 

Oxford United loan star Elliot Lee coolly found the net with a 25thminute strike in their League One home game against Accrington Stanley. His side slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat. 

Ryan Hill’s Eastleigh continued their push for a National League play-off place with a 1-0 win at Maidenhead United. #FullNinetyFamily
